Peer Review Process

The Journal of Government and Political Sciences (JGPS) maintains a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published manuscripts. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review, where the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to minimize bias and ensure impartial evaluation.

Upon submission, manuscripts are screened by the Editor-in-Chief to ensure alignment with the journal's scope and submission guidelines. Submissions that meet these criteria proceed to the review stage. Each manuscript is then assigned to at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field for thorough evaluation.

The review process typically takes 2-3 months, during which reviewers assess the manuscript's originality, academic quality, methodology, clarity, and adherence to ethical standards. Reviewers provide detailed reports and recommend one of the following actions to the Editor:

  • Accept Submission
  • Revisions Required
  • Resubmit for Review
  • Resubmit Elsewhere
  • Decline Submission

Manuscripts accepted with revisions are returned to the authors, who are given up to three weeks to address the reviewers' comments and suggestions. After revisions are made, the manuscript undergoes further evaluation by the handling editor to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed.

A decision on peer-reviewed manuscripts is made based on the feedback received from reviewers and the handling editor. The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial board, makes the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript for publication.

The entire peer review process, from submission to publication, typically takes 7 months to 1 year. Manuscripts accepted for publication must demonstrate:

  • A valid research question and hypothesis supported by relevant theory
  • Transparent methodology and clearly outlined study design
  • Clear and concise language, adhering to scientific norms
  • Proper referencing and coverage of relevant literature
  • Adherence to JGPS's author guidelines on editorial and ethical policies

JGPS is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that published research contributes significantly to the field of government and political sciences.
